Cattery News - Spring 2024

Spring is right around the corner and with it comes kittening season. With that in mind, we thought it would be a great time to share a quick Cattery News update with our Lake View Coons friends and family, including the highly anticipated announcement relating to our most recent addition, our upcoming adoption application process, and our pairing plans for this season.

Health Screening Results

Since it’s one of our cattery’s first priorities when planning for future litters, it seems only appropriate to start off sharing some of our most recent health screening results. We are pleased to announce that our future king, Masterweaver All Things Held MWPP (aka “PANTHER”) recently attended appointments for his OFA hip grading and advanced cardiac exam with echocardiogram, all of which came back with acceptable results. We still have not gotten around to updating his profile on the KINGS tab of our website, but once those results (and his genetic test results) are watermarked and redacted, they will all be published accordingly.

Future Vision

Speaking of future breeding cats, we are super excited to announce the addition of a new future Queen! If you follow us on Facebook you may have already seen our hint about the news, but for those who don’t do social media, we wanted to officially introduce you to our newest girl, Mena (affectionately nicknamed “Peluche at home, which is Spanish for “Teddy Bear”). This beautiful black silver classic tabby arrived to us all the way from Madrid, Spain and we can’t thank her breeder, Natalya, enough for her trust with this incredible girl! Mena has a wonderful, balanced look to her, with a strong muzzle, fluffy coat, and best of all, an over the top affectionate personality. We just love this girl to pieces and can’t wait to share more of her in the near future.

Adoption Applications

Before we make the much anticipated announcement regarding our upcoming adoption application day, we wanted to share a few quick reminders for those not already familiar with our kitten reservation process:

When reserving kittens, we always give first pick to our Cattery, and then after that to the few breeders we are closely networked with and trust. Next, we give priority to our immediate family and then to our current Lake View Coons family. We also try to prioritize approved applicants who express an interest in showing and/or who express an interest in adopting a sibling pair (that is, assuming we have kittens with show potential and/or a sibling pair that would do well going home together and with the family that expresses an interest).

Interested individuals need to submit an application with each litter. We do not keep past applications on file.

When adoption applications are scheduled to open, no early OR late entries are accepted or considered.

We do not keep a waitlist, nor do we accept deposits for kittens not yet born.

Since we typically receive such an overwhelming response to our available kittens, our digital adoption application form is only made visible to our website for a limited time and we limit the submission of applications to a small window (usually less than 24-48 hours).

That being said, we plan to open up our adoption applications to the public, for Orion & Ryder’s 2 kittens, beginning on Saturday, March 16th at 8 AM Eastern Time and ending at 8 PM Eastern Time that same day.

All kittens in this litter are priced at $3500 USD.

Beginning on Saturday the 16th, we will review applications and begin making calls to those selected for the next phase of our reservation process, the phone interview. Our goal is to have our final decisions made before the end of the weekend and contracts out by end of the day on Monday the 18th.

After our contract is reviewed and signed, we will send a digital invoice via PayPal Business. If you are selected to reserve one of our available kittens, scheduled pick up times for kittens will be coordinated for Saturday, March 30th.

If you are unable to physically meet us at our cattery to pick up your kitten on Saturday, March 30th, please hold off on submitting an application until a future litter.

Planned Pairings

We are excited to announce RW QGC IAU Orion’s Hunt StarArk and our black smoke queen, affectionately nicknamed "Dagmar,” recently welcomed their first litter this week! If all goes according to plan, kittens will have tentative go-home dates set for the second weekend of June. More details relating to this litter will be published once we have a chance to properly evaluate the litter for breed and show potential. Because one of the parents of this litter has earned championship titles, altered pets and altered show kittens will be priced at $3500 USD.

As for our upcoming plans for this Spring / Summer, we are shooting for pairings between Panther and our two black smoke queens, GRC LakeViewCoons Anchored Hope and CH LakeViewCoons Bella Luna Nera. Nature willing, we hope to share more details relating to those tentative plans within the next month.

Retired Cats

Last and certainly not least, we’d like to share that we have officially retired our show neuter, QGCA LakeViewCoons Silver Lining (otherwise know as “S.L.” for short, pronounced Essel). This sweet boy was a hard one to say goodbye to, but we couldn’t have picked a better retirement home for him!

S.L. is now living a super spoiled life with one of our current Lake View Coons families, joining his half brother, Casper the Red. We wish his new PAWrents, Rachel and Eric, all the best and a BIG thank you for loving and caring for him in his much deserved retirement.
