I’ve been following the breeding work of Philip and Marjorie Berger of MaineVu since the inception of our cattery and truly admire their many exhibition accomplishments. The Bergers have been breeding Maine Coons since 2008 and have successfully shown their kittens in The International Cat Association (TICA) to Grand Champions, Supreme Grand Champions, Regional Winners, International Winners, and Lifetime Achievement Winners, and to Grand Premier in The Cat Fanciers Association (CFA). Until this past summer when we were honored with their trust in adding Romulus and Venus to our cattery, MainVu has worked exclusively with Amy & Glenn of ABSCatz, David and Judy of MTNest, and Paul & Coleen of Paleeni in the United States, as well as Madinina in France and Snowfield Coon Cattery in China.

Over the last year we have earned the honor and privilege of calling Phil and Margie friends. They are such authentic and kind couple with decades of knowledge and experience with the Maine Coon breed…

After taking 2024 off from exhibition, we finally took the plunge and entered not just one but two of our boys in the Alabama Paws & Claws TICA cat show that took place over St. Patrick’s Day weekend. This club always throws a fantastic show and serves an incredible lunch Buffett, and let me tell you, this year did not disappoint!

We have had some really sweet and cuddly girls in our cattery over the last five years, but I have never met a pair of female felines with so much love to give as Diksi and KitKat. We jokingly refer to them as our “velcro kitties” and are looking forward to their incredible personalities being passed down to their future offspring. Here’s to the future journey we will be taking with these two beautiful queens!

Summer is finally here and with it comes the highly anticipated arrival of kittens from our newest king, Panther! This beautiful boy has a genetically diverse pedigree from a cattery whose work we have greatly admired since we started our cattery back in 2019: Masterweaver Canada’s Polydactyl Maine Coon. We can’t wait to add Panther to our breeding program in 2024, pending favorable genetic, cardiac, and orthopedic health screening results.

We've been super busy here at the cattery over the last few months! We’ve not only had the privilege to attend some really great TICA hosted cat shows all over the South East Region, but we’ve also earned a bunch of championship titles, recently had a litter of kittens, and even completed some additional Continuing Feline Education courses!

The cost of a well bred Maine Coon will vary greatly between breeders and sometimes even across different regions of the country. In this article we will discuss the various aspects of what it takes to ethically and responsibly operate a Cattery in the USA, including performing all the appropriate health screening for the breed and working towards Championship titled cats.

Over the weekend, we enjoyed some fun with the Cattyshack Cat Club who hosted a “March CATness” TICA show in Augusta, GA. The show hall was wonderfully decorated with feline themed basketballs and hoops, which was only appropriate given the time of year.

This weekend we attended our fourth annual “Stars & Stripes” cat show, hosted by the It’s TICA Time Cat Club. We look forward to this event every year, and as per usual the show did not disappoint!

This past weekend we had the privilege of attending a three day TICA cat show hosted by the Alabama Paws & Claws Cat Club in Anniston, AL. This show was open to the public for the first time since COVID and I must say there was an amazing turn out!

If you notice your cat is dragging their food away from it’s bowl to eat, you may have to do a little detective work to discover what’s contributing to the behavior, but often times, switching things up with these pointers in mind is all that’s needed to eventually correct the undesired behavior.

Over the weekend we had the opportunity to attend Cattyshack Cat Club’s 29th Year All Breed Cat Show. This year the TICA show was held at a new venue in Augusta, Georgia. We really enjoyed the alternative format where cats were judged in 8 rings on Saturday and 4 rings on Sunday…

People use customer feedback to make informed decisions. Ratings and reviews help others to get a better understanding of the type of experience individuals have had with a Breeder or Cattery they are considering. Since we’re about 2 weeks away from the first day of Winter I thought it only appropriate to share some Cattery News with our Lake View Coons friends and family, including the highly anticipated announcement relating to our current litter!

Breeding always involves taking calculated risks, but a breeder can mitigate those risks by knowing the pedigree lines they are working with and performing all of the necessary health screening that’s recommended for the breed. When it comes to picking keepers, it’s important for a breeder to make decisions based on the written standard and prioritize the work of preserving the Maine Coon breed.

Over the weekend we had the opportunity to travel to Pigeon Forge to attend the very first TICA Allbreed Cat Show hosted by Harmony Cat Club. The club volunteers, members, and judges put on a fantastic show. All in all it was a really fun three day weekend away!

Once you know what to look for, and you’ve seen more than a few, it gets easier to spot the scam profiles, pages, and groups. When in doubt, don’t send funds. Get a second opinion. Check references. Trust your gut!

The It’s TICA Time Cat Club hosts some of our absolute favorite cat shows! This year the club not only hosted the annual Simpsonville show, but they also hosted the South East Regional Awards Banquet too!
