Spring is right around the corner and with it comes kittening season. With that in mind, we thought it would be a great time to share a quick Cattery News update with our Lake View Coons friends and family, including the highly anticipated announcement relating to our most recent addition, our upcoming adoption application process, and our pairing plans for this season.
We've been super busy here at the cattery over the last few months! We’ve not only had the privilege to attend some really great TICA hosted cat shows all over the South East Region, but we’ve also earned a bunch of championship titles, recently had a litter of kittens, and even completed some additional Continuing Feline Education courses!
Breeding always involves taking calculated risks, but a breeder can mitigate those risks by knowing the pedigree lines they are working with and performing all of the necessary health screening that’s recommended for the breed. When it comes to picking keepers, it’s important for a breeder to make decisions based on the written standard and prioritize the work of preserving the Maine Coon breed.
Don’t make the mistake that so many have and rush the kitten buying process. When you prioritize buying from a breeder that has a kitten or cat available as soon as possible, or at the lowest cost, you are bound to run into backyard breeders, kitten mills, and scammers. So, what makes a good breeder?
